Reiki
Reiki (ray-key) is a laying-on of hands healing technique thousands of years old. Thought to have originated as a Tibetan Buddhist practice and rediscovered in the late 1800's by a Japanese Buddhist, Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki is a very simple yet powerful technique easily learned by anyone.
Reiki is a generic word in Japan and is used to describe any type of healing work based on life force energy. It is not exclusive to the systems of healing based on Dr. Usui's method. The system of healing that evolved from Dr. Usui's method is called the Usui System of Natural Healing or Usui Shiki Ryoho. It is a type of Reiki.
The definition of Reiki most have accepted is Universal Life Force Energy; this meaning does not really add to the understanding of Reiki.
Research into the esoteric meaning of the Japanese kanji character for Rei has given a much deeper understanding of this ideogram. The word Rei as it is used in Reiki is more accurately interpreted to mean supernatural knowledge or spiritual consciousness. This is the wisdom that comes from God or the Higher Self. This is the God-consciousness which is all knowing. It understands each person completely. It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows what to do to heal them.
It is the God-consciousness called Rei that guides the life force called Ki in the practice we call Reiki. Therefore Reiki can be defined as "spiritually guided life force energy". This is a meaningful interpretation of the word Reiki and more closely describes the experience most people have of it; Reiki guiding itself within its own wisdom and being unresponsive to the direction of the practitioner.
We all have Reiki energy (Universal Life Force Energy), for it is our birthright. What makes Reiki different from other healing methods, it is the attunement process which the student receives in the various levels of Reiki classes.
Chakras and Reiki
The Chakras help the body distribute energy for its various physical, emotional, mental and spiritual functions. They are connected to the functions of the physical body primarily through the endocrine glands and the spinal system. They mediate energy through the various spinal contacts. This energy is distributed throughout the body by means of the nerve pathways and the circulatory system. In this way, all the organs, tissues and cells receive the vibrational energy accordingly, Reiki is a most effective means of restoring balance. Individual Chakras and their related organs and systems in the body will respond well to Reiki. The Reiki vibrations interact with the electromagnetic emanations of the body and Reiki is transmitted to the vertebrae of the spine. The vertebrae transfers the Reiki energy along the nerve pathways to the organs and systems of the body, restoring balance, including those emotional and mental im balances that can cause or aggravate the physical problems. In order to balance the Chakras and promote healing on all levels, full Reiki treatments are very much in order.
